I started R2 Performance after years of dealing with different companies that were not meeting the needs of riders.

I began riding Motocross at the age of fourteen. And just like a lot of wrenchheads, I learned to work on my own machines through trial and error. And believe me, there were errors. I started hitting the local MX scene in 1994 after obtaining my driver’s license the year before - working my way from the C classes all the way to the A classes in 1997. In 1998, I did what many riders dream of - I earned my AMA Pro license for Motocross and Supercross. That’s when the headaches started - going from company to company to get my suspension set the way I wanted, and always falling short.

The goal of racing as a professional for a living only lasted three years. After reality set in of not being able to sustain that goal, and then starting a family, I took a few steps back and just rode and raced occasionally for fun. I was still wrenching on my own machines and getting them set the way I needed, but that soon changed. I slowly started setting bikes up for friends and riders close to my hometown. In the summer of 2005, I picked up a sponsor that specialized in suspension revalves. After a few months of dealing and talking with them, the relationship evolved into something more - I would soon be opening up the Florida franchise for that company. While working for that company, I started developing my own settings and worked very closely with a few local riders, one of which was riding full time on the AMA Pro Racing Outdoor Nationals. After a year and a half, I decided it was time to go out completely on my own, and that was the beginning of R2 Performance.

In 2007, the same year R2 was started, I also started a new chapter in riding and racing. I discovered the world of offroad racing. I was asked to be on a six-man race team and participate in the Perry Mountain 24-hour challenge. Shortly after, I attended quite a few FTR Hare Scrambles races, racing in the highly competitive AA class. I still ride and race today, continuing the development of my suspension settings along with my riders. In this constantly advancing world of technology, being a rider helps me to keep up with any and all changes made to today’s machines. And I will continue to bring the best possible service to my riders in 2009 and beyond.
